The 2017 acreage of potatoes planted in Canada is estimated to be down 0.6% or 1,943 acres. The planted crop last year was also down .4% or 1486 acres from 2015.
The largest acreage decreases are in Manitoba (-1,414 acres or -2.1%), British Columbia (-1,249 acres or -17.2%), and Prince Edward Island (-1,000 acres or -1.1%).
Three provinces, Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta, have increases of +2.4%, +1.7%, and +1.8% respectively.
