World’s highest potato yield per acre, world record in Washington State

Washington State has set a world record for the highest potato yield per acre, averaging 30 tons per acre, which is twice the national average in the United States. This achievement is attributed to the state’s favorable climate, rich volcanic soil, long growing season, and availability of water. Washington’s potato production is primarily concentrated in eastern Washington and the Skagit Valley. The state produces 20% of all U.S. potatoes, with a significant portion exported internationally, especially to Asia.
