Some exciting news from New Brunswick!

Ralph and Nancy Hanscome, Of Atlantic Potato Distributors, have been inducted into the Potato World Hall of Recognition for 2024. Ralph and Nancy began their careers with deep roots in agriculture, starting from Ralph’s upbringing on a New Brunswick farm and Nancy’s career in Connecticut. Their shared venture into the potato industry took off when Ralph became a Certified Potato Seed Inspector, and later, they founded Atlantic Potato Distributors (APD) in 1993.

The Hanscomes built APD from a small basement operation into a major business, known for its innovations in food safety and potato packaging. They have significantly contributed to the New Brunswick potato industry, working with agencies like the USDA and CFIA to pioneer inspection and packaging systems. The family expanded the business by acquiring farms and committing to technological innovations, eventually making APD a leader in the sector.

Their contributions were recognized when they were named Entrepreneurs of the Year in 2008. Ralph and Nancy have also been active in their community and industry, engaging in local initiatives and global conservation efforts. Today, APD is a renowned company, employing over 100 people and setting new standards in potato production and distribution.

This recognition reflects their dedication to innovation, quality, and the community, making them worthy of the Potato World Hall of Recognition honour

The 2024 Hall of Recognition Dinner and Gala took place September 14, 2024 at the New Brunswick Potato Museum in Florenceville-Bristol, NB.
